Great eyecare takes time
Giving your eyes the very best of care is our priority. That’s why we’ve developed our 360° Comprehensive Eye Consultation – it’s our standard.
We take the extra time to ensure that all aspects of your vision and eye health are thoroughly assessed.
Our comprehensive consultation takes around 45 minutes - let’s walk you through a few of the steps:
We’ll take a thorough eye health history and talk to you about your lifestyle, work, study & hobbies
We’ll examine the internal and external health of your eyes and check for eye disease
We’ll test how well you can see at various distances – this information becomes your prescription
We’ll talk to you about how best to protect your eyes at work, sport and leisure
We’ll discuss a range of lens and eyewear options for your specific vision requirements
We’ll ask you about your general health and discuss diet and lifestyle to benefit your eye health
We’ll bring all this information together to tailor a personalised vision solution for you!
Myopia Management
Childhood myopia (short-sightedness) is increasing worldwide. Early detection and intervention is critical in limiting progression and reducing the lifelong risks of vision loss and secondary disease. Maria is trained to identify children at risk of developing myopia and also in identifying behavioural and familial risk factors which might accelerate progression. She can tailor treatments which include myopic defocus spectacle lenses, contact lenses and eye drop therapy as standalone therapy or in combination.
Digital Retinal Imaging and OCT
Digital retinal imaging enables us to monitor your eye health and keep a photographic history of any changes to your eyes. This is especially important for patients with diabetes and is an integral part of our diabetic eye health assessment. OCT (Optical Coherence Tomography) scanning is an invaluable tool in detecting a range of eye diseases including macular degeneration and glaucoma. If it is clinically warranted, we will recommend that you have digital retinal imaging or an OCT scan with us in addition to your eye examination. Both digital retinal imaging and OCT scans are non-invasive and completely painless and the results are available immediately.
Diabetic Eye Reviews
Regular eye checks are vital at all stages of diabetic disease. We can provide feedback to your GP or specialist about possible sight threatening complications of diabetic retinopathy or macula oedema.
Refractive Surgery Assessment
Maria has extensive experience in the pre-operative assessment and post-operative care of refractive surgery patients. Maria is familiar with all types of eye laser procedures including LASIX, SMILE and ASLA as well as other more specialised forms of vision correction. Refractive eye surgery can be undertaken to correct vision problems caused by refractive errors, including myopia (near-sightedness), hyperopia (far-sightedness) and astigmatism (distorted vision when looking at objects at any distance). We can assess your suitability for laser surgery, refer you to an experienced ophthalmologist and look after you post-surgically at our practice.
