Colour, colour and more colour!

Hello again and welcome back to my blog.

A lot has happened since I wrote my last blog. At that time we were getting ready to paint the front of the shop. We settled on our chosen colour and away we went. It’s been so long since I’ve written, as I have just repainted it! We recently installed new LED signage which we are very proud of. No guesses as to the businesses favourite colour!

Speaking of colour, we have some wonderful new ranges in store that are extremely colourful. This year marks 25 years that I have been working at the practice and purchasing the frames. I have to say, that it never gets easier trying to pick the balance of what to stock. Given the amount of comments that we still get about how lovely our ranges are, I think we are doing ok.

I’d like to highlight 4 of our colourful ranges.

The first is l.a.Eyeworks. Spotted at a trade show, Maria and I just couldn’t go past them. Founded by 2 Californian school friends in 1979, the company is still going strong today. I was lucky enough to meet one of the owners at the show and be personally gifted with a fabulous pair of glasses (I’m wearing them below). I love the range so much that I have 2 pairs.

l.a.Eyeworks (I call them my Hollywood frames) are the most expensive range I have ever sold (with the exception of our 23k gold plated rimless frames) but it has proven to bring myself and my customers the most joy. I don’t know what Californian magic the owners possess, but they definitely know how to make a pair of glasses. We had a wonderful party at the shop to showcase the range.

Another colourful range we now stock is “Kaos”. Highly eclectic from the Italian company Area 98, these have also been a hit for us. I’ll let the pictures below say it all.

Just recently we became stockists for a new brand “The Elusive Miss Lou”, the brainchild of Louise and Teiger Sceats (and yes, they are related to the iconic Jonathan Sceats – wife and son!) All frames and patterns are designed at Avalon Beach by Louise. Fabrics are printed in Sydney and laminated using a special technique developed with Mazzucchelli. All pieces are limited edition and are done in either runs of 40 or 75 pieces worldwide. We feel lucky to stock them! In fact, keep and eye out for Maria and I wearing our new models!

And finally, just last week, we took delivery of our newest range from The Netherlands, Dutz. We weren’t actually supposed to be buying this range on the day. The rep had come for another reason, but Maria and I just couldn’t resist! We have over 30 models in stock both for men and women and we hope you’ll like it as much as we did.

I’ll leave it at that for now, except to say that during the last 2 years, Maria and I have been extremely grateful for the support of all our customers. I’ve purposely not wanted to dwell on the pandemic but it would be remiss of me not to mention it at all. We’ve been truly humbled by the continuing support you have shown to us and we look forward to continuing to serve you for the years ahead.

As always, if there is anything you need, just be sure to ask me.

Until I write again

Sarah
